It was late when we got to our destination last night, so here's some tidbits from yesterday.
I was rushing around trying desperately to leave the house in order for
Boe's week on his own and Reed was entertaining himself. The method of the day was jumping. Off the stairs. It was so cute that I got out the video camera, but I didn't bring my cable with me, so that will have to wait until I get home. He climbed up to the second step, turned a little sideways and leaped, always landing on his feet. He even lost his balance once and just laughed about it. I was amazed. Then, on his fourth jump, tragedy struck. he jumped up right into the metal piece on the rail and punched a nice hole in the top of his head. It looked like it hurt! But, you know, an orange
Popsicle can cure anything. I knew he was alright when I asked him how is head was and he said, "My head feel good."
I have to be grateful, my kids traveled really well. But there's nothing like a long trip to make you question your parenting skills. K woke up when we stopped for gas and started crying. She continued to cry for quite sometime. I asked my brother to see if he could tell if she smelled
poopy. He said he couldn't smell anything, so I just kept on driving. Half an hour later, I stopped at a rest stop because she was STILL crying. It was an AWFUL diaper. Poor girl.
We did stop and have lunch with
Boe, who was headed home from taking his Master's electrician test in Ogden. He passed with flying colors (or pretty nearly when it came to the code part). We're so proud of him! See, honey, all those hours of studying, and the evenings you gave up were worth it in the end. Just one more test, then maybe we can put this homework business behind us for awhile? It was fun to have lunch together, we're really going to miss him for the next few days though. Wednesday can't come soon enough. Wish you could be here, babe.
Lesson learned, don't expect
Chinese served at a truck stop to be worth what you pay for it, even if it does SEEM like a good deal.
Reed had me a little worried. We were about an hour (or less) from my parents' on our 6+ hour drive, when he pipes up and says "You drive to my new house, Momma!" Thankfully, he is having fun today with his cousin. Whew! dodged a bullet there.
